In our own area local people will have the chance to put questions about diabetes to a team of NHS experts as part of an online diabetes web-chat run by the local community NHS trust.
Specialist diabetes experts from Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust will be on hand to offer advice or answer questions about diabetes - such as how people can reduce their risk of developing the condition, how to confidently self manage their diabetes more effectively, or find out about the services and local support for people with diabetes across the communities of Hounslow and Richmond.
The trust's new Diabetes mobile app will be launched the same week.
The online chat will take place on Thursday 18 June, 12pm – 1.30pm and the web-chat panel will comprise Helen Church, Lead Diabetes Specialist Nurse; Nicola Dolby, Diabetes Support Nurse/Desmond educator; and Michelle Jones, Specialist Diabetes dietitian.
Helen Church, Lead Diabetes Specialist Nurse said: “Whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes this is an ideal opportunity to ask questions to our team of experts and get answers quickly. We are here to support you and give you the confidence to self-manage your diabetes effectively, reducing the risks of long term complications.
“We can offer advice on how best to manage your diabetes and signpost you to other support services and introduce you to innovative ways of managing your diabetes in Richmond – including education sessions and NHS support, our new diabetes app or just answer your questions about day to day management.”
