DUKRT Update - 4th Jan 2021

We hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year, albeit 2020 style

Thank you to everyone who called in to our meeting on 14th December and especially to Dr Matt Oldfield and Helen Church for taking the time to join us, speaking about "Diabetes in the Time of Covid", giving very topical and helpful presentations.

You can view Helen's slides, entitled "Sick Day Rules", by clicking on the link below.  They contain useful notes and advice for anyone with diabetes who becomes unwell.

We recorded Matt's and Helen's talks.  If you would like to see the video, please email us at dukrandt@gmail.com and we will send a link enabling you to do so.

This month, we plan to hold a joint Zoom meeting with our friends in the Kingston Group at 7pm on Tuesday 19th January, when Dr Gareth Hull, Kingston's GP lead for Diabetes, will speak to us about Covid vaccination.  We will send the details soon and also put them on our website.

Two days later, on Thursday 21st January, 5-6pm,  Diabetes UK London team are holding a Zoom webinar on "Diabetes, the Immune System and the Heart". Dr Matthew Gage, who runs a research group looking at how diabetes affects immune cell responses and how this can impact the treatment of diabetes and heart disease, will speak and answer questions from the audience afterwards.  If you would like to atted this, please register in advance using this link:

We still plan to hold our AGM in February, also virtually of course, date to be confirmed.

That's all for now.  We wish everyone a Happy 2021 and a quiet and safe few weeks ahead as the eye of the current Covid storm passes.
