Newsletter and Group Meeting - Tues 4th May 7pm - Guest Speakers from our CCG

Diabetes UK Richmond and Twickenham Group Newsletter    22nd April 2021

Thanks to everyone who called into our meeting last month when Michelle Lam gave us a fascinating and informative talk about diabetes medications, slides from which are available on request.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 4th May at 7pm, which we will host jointly with our friends in the Kingston DUK group.  We will have two guest speakers from the NHS South West London CCG:  Caroline O’Neill, Lead Engagement Manager for Kingston and Richmond, and Sue Lear, Deputy Director for Transformation.  We are also delighted that Dr Gareth Hull, GP and clinical lead for diabetes in Kingston, will be joining us.  You may recall that Gareth spoke at our joint meeting in January on coronavirus vaccinations.

The NHS South West London CCG is responsible for planning, commissioning and buying most of the NHS services in our area.  They are coming along to hear about our experience of services and support for people with diabetes and to talk about how the NHS can support us to stay well and manage our condition.  This is a very good opportunity for us to give some direct feedback on this to help them to improve and enhance diabetes care in our area, for the sake of all of us local people with diabetes.  Please do call in to the meeting if you are able to do so.

I have included the Zoom link below.  It will also be on our website.

Continuing the “feedback” theme, Diabetes UK are running a quick online survey of people’s experiences of diabetes care during the pandemic.  Details below.

Stay safe and well and enjoy this lovely spring weather!

Regards,

Paul

Diabetes UK Online Survey

Please take a quick survey to tell us about your experiences of diabetes care during the pandemic

Over the last year, diabetes services have been impacted by the pandemic. And for too many people, getting the support they need to manage their diabetes has been put on hold.

The NHS has worked tirelessly to support people during the pandemic. Now’s our chance to make the case for diabetes to be a priority for NHS recovery.

This summer, we’ll be releasing a report to tell the Government what people with diabetes need at this time.

But we need your help to write this report. Take our quick survey today to tell us about your experiences of diabetes care during the pandemic: www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/ODiabetesRecovery/
